An international writer-director and an experienced cinematographer, Soran Mardookhi has spent the last 20 years on film sets. With a lifelong passion for film, he has worked in all facets of production from big budget studio work to micro-budget pictures, ranging from features and documentaries to TV shows and commercials. Turbulence, his second feature drama, was nominated for the Best Canadian Film and Best BC Film at the Vancouver International Film Festival in 2014. Forgotten Chords, his latest feature-length documentary, has been screened at multiple international film festivals. He explores themes of identity, culture and migration in his work, often telling untold stories found off the beaten track. He is currently developing a contemporary Canadian drama In a Vacuum, telling the story of a Kurdish-Canadian immigrant woman in the context of Canadian multiculturalism and current global geopolitical conflicts.
